Help topics

Getting Started

Learn the basics of reviewing your library.

How does TidyMyGallery work?

TidyMyGallery helps you review your photo library one item at a time. Swipe to keep an item or move it to TidyMyGallery’s Trash, where you can review it before asking Apple Photos to delete it.

Why does TidyMyGallery need access to my photos?

Photo access is required so TidyMyGallery can display, organize, and process the photos and videos you choose. You can change this permission at any time in your device’s Settings.

Why can’t I see all of my photos?

TidyMyGallery can only display the photos you have allowed it to access. Check the Photos permission for TidyMyGallery in the Settings app if some items are missing. Items stored in iCloud may also need time and a network connection to download.

Cleaning Your Library

Understand Trash, deletion, and recovery.

What happens when I delete a photo or video?

Moving an item to TidyMyGallery’s Trash does not immediately delete it from Apple Photos. You can review or restore it there. When you confirm deletion from TidyMyGallery’s Trash, iOS asks for permission to delete the selected items from your photo library. Apple Photos may then keep them in Recently Deleted for a limited time.

How do I restore a photo from TidyMyGallery’s Trash?

Open Trash, select the photo or video, and choose Restore before confirming deletion. Restoring removes the item from TidyMyGallery’s Trash and returns it to the review queue; it does not need to be recovered in Apple Photos because it has not been deleted there yet.

Why do deleted items still appear in Apple Photos?

After you confirm deletion, Apple Photos may keep the items in the Recently Deleted album for a limited period. You can recover or permanently remove them from the Photos app.

Photo & Video Compression

Reduce file sizes and review saved results.

What is the difference between Balanced and Compact?

For photo compression, Balanced prioritizes clear quality while reducing file size. Compact uses stronger compression and may reduce the dimensions of large photos to save more space. Video compression uses the separate Better Quality and More Space options.

Will compression replace my original photo?

Compression saves a new copy first. Your original is only removed if you review the result and choose to replace it. Replacement may be unavailable when TidyMyGallery cannot preserve the source safely.

Why can’t some files be compressed?

Certain photos or videos may contain specialized formats or data that cannot be processed reliably. The app avoids changing those files when it cannot produce and verify a safe result.

How much storage will compression save?

Savings depend on the original file, format, resolution, and selected compression option. The app shows estimated savings before processing when available and the completed savings after successful compression.

Duplicate & Similar Photos

Review exact duplicate suggestions safely.

What is the difference between duplicate and similar photos?

Duplicates are exact copies of the same photo. The app finds these exact duplicates for review. It does not group similar photos that differ in framing, lighting, or quality.

Should I review duplicate suggestions before deleting them?

Yes. Always review the selected items before confirming deletion.

Photo Enhancement

Enhance photos and choose how to save them.

What does photo enhancement change?

Enhancement adjusts visual qualities such as lighting, colour, contrast, and clarity to create a more polished result.

Which photos work best with enhancement?

Enhancement can work with many images and is designed to help with outdoor and dimly lit photos. Photos that do not need an adjustment may be skipped.

Is my original photo preserved?

Your original is not replaced automatically. After reviewing the result, choose Keep Both or, when available, replace the original. Replacement saves and verifies the enhanced copy before removing the original. The app warns you when specialized Portrait depth or HDR editing data may not be preserved.

Permissions & Privacy

Manage Photos access and notifications.

How do I change Photos access?

Open the iPhone or iPad Settings app, select TidyMyGallery, choose Photos, and update the access level.

Does TidyMyGallery upload my library?

TidyMyGallery processes photos and videos on your device and does not upload your library to a TidyMyGallery server. Apple Photos may download originals from iCloud when they are needed. You control which photos TidyMyGallery can access and can change that access in Settings.

Why are notifications not appearing?

Check that notifications are enabled for TidyMyGallery in the device’s Settings and that Processing Updates or Cleanup Reminders are enabled inside the app.

Premium & Purchases

Learn about current plan availability.

What does Premium include?

Premium unlocks Swipe review, Auto Enhance, Compress Photos, and Compress Videos. It is offered as Monthly and Yearly subscriptions purchased through the App Store. Open Premium in Settings to see the available plans.

How do I manage or cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions are purchased through the App Store and managed by Apple. To manage or cancel, open your Apple Account subscription settings on your device. Deleting TidyMyGallery does not cancel an active subscription. If you have already subscribed, use Restore Purchases on the Premium screen to restore access.

Troubleshooting

Resolve scanning, loading, and processing issues.

The library scan appears stuck. What should I do?

Leave TidyMyGallery open briefly and confirm that it has access to the photos you expect. If the scan still does not progress, close and reopen TidyMyGallery before trying Rescan Entire Library in Settings.

Why are the category counts showing zero?

The library may still be processing, access may be limited, or there may not be matching items in that category. Wait for the current scan to finish before starting another scan.

Why did compression fail?

Compression can fail when an original stored in iCloud has not downloaded yet, when device storage is low, or when the file contains unsupported media data. Try again after the original has fully downloaded and confirm that enough storage is available.

Why is TidyMyGallery running slowly?

Large libraries and items stored in iCloud may take longer to load. Keep the device connected to a reliable network while iCloud items download and avoid starting multiple processing operations at the same time.

What should I do if TidyMyGallery continues to have a problem?

Restart TidyMyGallery and confirm that Photos permissions and available device storage are sufficient. If the problem continues, use Contact Support in Settings.
